Hammy Hamster

One other resident in camp at present is Hammy Hamster. Trying to get a photo of him is quite difficult, not least because he does not wake up until quite late in the evening. 

When he does come out he is very active and very flexible in his use of all the tubes connecting different parts of his cage. He is soon tucking into his food, both fresh and his biscuits, and more obviously his treats.

He looks quite different to how we remember him from his last stay, as he has gone grey in most of his body fur, and only keeping the ginger colour on his head.

Timmy Gin

Timmy is doing well and we weighed him this morning and he is now just over 1 kg which is excellent news.  Timmy lost a lot of weight recently when he was ill.  We are giving Timmy lots of nice veg and he seems to enjoy the Burgess muesli mix at the moment.

Coco & Benjamin

These rabbits are regular boarders and it is nice to see them again.  We have known Coco for longer and we actually bonded her with Benjamin.  Its amazing how their relationship has blossomed and both really love one another now.  Benjamin has quite a big moult going on at the moment and quite a few buns are moulting now due to the constant weather changes. 

Flo & Humphrey

Flo and Humphrey are two of our older guests, but who seem quite good for their age. Since being with us they have mastered the ramp in their two tier hutch, and are now tearing around, to the point that Humphrey managed to knock the ladder down.

They did however manage to get to the top deck for their tea, and Humphrey seems to be really enjoying his piece of carrot.

When Flo initially came to stay her owners mentioned that she occasionally gets a sticky bottom. Flo and Humphrey usually have Burgess Excel biscuits and sometimes this can have this affect on older bunnies. Therefore we gave her some Science Selective Mature pellets (slowly introduced over a period of days) and this appears to have resolved the problem.

We don't usually make changes to rabbits diets in this way, unless we feel it would be of benefit to them. Hopefully their owners will agree with our decision and carry on with this feeding regime.

Marv and Lucky

First of all I must apologise to these rabbits owners, as we missed them off the latest updates.

Marv and Lucky are with us until early September and have really settled in very well now. They spend all day in their hutch with run attached, with occasional outings on the larger patio area, but normally after 10 - 20 minutes are soon lying down relaxing.

As you can see they really enjoy their food, especially when it is mix food time, when they race to the top of their hutch and are ready and waiting for their breakfast. 

Both rabbits are more confidant with us now, especially Marv, who was initially very nervous.

Toto and Cottontail

Here are another pair of regular boarders here at Blackberry Boarding, Toto and Cottontail. They are a very nice, friendly pair of rabbits, who unfortunately don't get on together any more, and have to be housed separately. They did used to be together, but as they matured started to fall out and fight each other. This can be common with male rabbits as they reach maturity.

Winnie, Woody and Ronja

These three rabbits spent yesterday out in in a run in the garden, which they seemed to enjoy very much. Unfortunately, the weather here today has been a bit changeable, so we decided that they should stay indoors. They had a supply of dried grass and hay to munch on, but were still hungry enough to eat their teatime vegetables.
