Timmy recovers

Here is Timmy the guinea pig preparing to be given some eye drops this morning. He is very good at taking all of his medication and doesn't try to wriggle away.
Timmy had an operation on Wednesday to remove a piece of hay or grass from his nostril. The item removed was 1.5cm long and must have been very uncomfortable for Timmy. He had been suffering with a weepy eye, and mucous from the nose, for some while before even coming to us here at Blackberry Boarding.
After having an x-ray the week before it was decided the only way to fully investigate Timmy's problem was to have a General Anaesthetic and be operated on.
Luckily, Timmy's general health has been very good while he has been here and we had managed to raise his weight to over 1kg, as he had dropped to only 860grams at home, which is very low for this size of male guinea pig.
The vet has advised us to continue with his medication for two more weeks so as to clear up any residual infection that may be present.
We think that Timmy is now well on the way to recovery and we will keep you posted as to how he gets on.
